Time to Celebrate

What an awesome day with friends! The 2019 Top it Off to Cancer car cruise was this past Saturday, our group was small but full of heart! The day was a celebration of cancer survivors and honor the lives of those who lost their battle with cancer. We also celebrated the fact that together we are curing a man-made cancer, BIA-ALCL!

Cancer is a speed bump not a road block

The quote “Cancer is a speed bump not a road block” was the theme for this year’s event shirts. We were lucky enough to have some great t-shirt sponsors:

“Pitstops”

This year’s Top it Off to Cancer car cruise included stops at Adam Puchta Winery, Fernweh Distilling Company, Stone Hill Winery, Hermann 1837 Cellar Bar and Hermannhof Winery. We had people from all over the country stop and ask us about the Just Call Me Ray story – they shared their cancer stories with us as well, many even gave donations so we can continue sharing our message.

Many of the “pitstops” of the day featured drink specials for us. One of the favorites was the Pink Mojito at Fernweh Distilling Co. They also ran a special on tasty shots – with proceeds being donated to Just Call Me Ray. The shots were delish! Jayson (my awesome hubby) and I aren’t too big on shots but we really liked the caramel apple shot, it tasted exactly like fall’s favorite snack.

What’s next…

We loved our small group this year, however we hope more people will join us next year. Top it Off to Cancer is on the books for Saturday, September 26, 2020, we hope you can join us!

  • November 1, 2019 — Adam Puchta Winery’s Doe Camp
    • Adam Puctha Winery’s 9th annual Doe Camp is a fundraiser for the Hermann Area Crusade Against Cancer and the Just Call Me Ray organization. Doe Camp is a lady’s night out where they feature wine tastings, vendors, massages, raffles and more. The event is open to the public. All funds raised by selling raffle tickets for gift packages. Admission: $5
  • December 14, 2019 — My First…Last Show at the Showboat Community Theatre
    • Just Call Me Ray is sponsoring this holiday musical at the Showboat Community Theatre. It’s a musical biography about Becky Viola and her journey through cancer. Her performance will get you in the holiday spirit with her heartwarming story about living through and surviving ovarian cancer. Showtime 7 PM. Tickets will be on sale at showboattheatre.org
  • February 20, 2020 — Hope with Hoses & Handbags
    • We hope you can join us for one of Hermann’s most memorable events of the year! Just Call Me Ray and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Hermann Volunteer Fire Department hosts Hope with Hoses & Handbags fundraiser. We are raising money to provide awareness of the dangers associated with breast implants, help people rise up through their cancer battles and to purchase life-saving equipment for the fire department. This one-of-a-kind event is full of great networking, delicious food, signature drinks, and the opportunity to walk away with a designer handbag (or handbags!). Tickets will go on sale in December.
